Kindly read our T&Cs for attending SewAlongs.
If you've attended a course, you receive a certain amount of SewAlongs as part of the course package.
Please scroll to the bottom of the page to see our schedule.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Dear Sew Much Fun Sewists,
We hope you're excited to take part in our SewAlongs!
To ensure that everyone gets equal use of the time, we have a few rules that we kindly ask you to adhere to:
1. In order to attend a SewAlong, please use the words: "BOOK SEWALONG" + the dates you wish to attend and send via WhatsApp to: 067 114 2641. You can also use the button on the relevant page . SewAlongs are allocated according to the course you have signed up for. Once you have used up your free SewAlongs, you may purchase more via the e-shoppe.
2. We understand that life can be unpredictable and things may come up last minute, but please note that if you book a SewAlong and need to cancel on the day, unfortunately, you will forfeit your SewAlong. No exceptions, no matter the reason.
3. SewAlongs are not transferable and cannot be shared or swapped.
4. Your SewAlongs are intended as an opportunity for you to work on your course projects and receive guidance and assistance when needed. They are not intended as private lessons or catch-ups for classes you have missed. SewAlongs are strictly not intended as access to the services of a fashion designer for your own pattern making or sewing services. If you need to catch up on a specific topic, you may book a private lesson at the studio hourly rates as advertised on the e-shoppe.
5. During SewAlongs, you are expected to know the techniques involved with your garment or be familiar with them. We will provide assistance, but if you require constant assistance, that kind of work would be best suited to a private lesson and can affect the time that other attendees have available for assistance.
6. Please ensure that your fabric is pre-shrunken and pressed before attending a SewAlong.
7. If you need help with adjusting a pattern, beyond the basics of lengthening or shortening, you should book a private session to do so. This is to be fair to others attending your SewAlong. Complex pattern alterations can be a lengthy process and given the nature of a SewAlong , is it not possible to allocate extended periods of time trying to fit a pattern to someone’s unique body measurements. Measurements would also have to be taken, hence a private session being much better suited.
8. We do not draft patterns for you during the SewAlongs. We will only use patterns that are issued on our courses or additional patterns that you bring with you and are approved by the studio before the SewAlong. Some projects, such as aprons or circle skirts do not require a pattern but do require calculations. Those are permitted and we are happy to assist in any such calculations before or during the SewAlong.
9. We do not supply threads for your project. Please bring your own thread in your preferred colors for the fabric you use. We will supply empty bobbins for use in the studio machines, but they stay behind. If you need special needles for your project, you may purchase them from the studio.
10. Knitted or stretchy fabrics are not allowed unless you have completed an Overlockers course with us. Woven fabrics with a maximum of 5% stretch are allowed.
11. Fabrics like viscose, rayon, or 100% polyester + satins are not allowed as a first-time project, as they are difficult to work with and do not press easily or burn quickly. If you are doing a circle skirt for a 1st project however, especially during hot months, we allow viscose and rayon as these drape beautifully on those types of garments. If you are not sure of what type of fabric is ideal for your project, either consult the pattern instructions or ask Liezel via WhatsApp. We normally cover in classes during discussion what fabrics are ideal, but if you forget we are happy to remind you via WhatsApp. We also usually send info packs about fabric choice in general as well as how to pre-shrink your fabric.
12. Please respect our start and end times of our SewAlongs. We cannot extend the hours beyond what is allocated in order to accommodate the completion of a garment. Kindly plan and manage your SewAlong time so we can conclude SewAlongs on time. The studio runs various activities in our premises on any day and when people do not adhere to end times for our activities, it impacts classes and other activities planned in the premises following the SewAlong negatively.
VERY NB!
SewAlongs cancelled on the day - for any reason whatsoever, including illness, Covid infections, exposure etc - are forfeited.
We are a business, selling our time + expertise, so if you do not pitch or cancel the lesson on the day, we cannot resell that time slot on short notice. If you bought a pack of SewAlongs, the time will simply be deducted in the event that you cancel or do not pitch.
Thank you for your cooperation & Happy Sewing!
